Why do we need to promote care & prevent harm?
With promotion & prevention science, we can all contribute to a society full of care—peace, connection, health, and mental wellness—and absent of harm—violence, loneliness, illness, and mental distress.
Our Story
Promote Care & Prevent Harm began with a group of student leaders in the aftermath of the April 16th, 2007 campus shooting at Virginia Tech. Rather than be defined by a traumatic event, we aspired to mobilize a movement toward resilience and care, led by young people. Now, we are a nonprofit organization focused on translating promotion and prevention science into programs for youth leaders and adult allies to build safer, healthier, and more connected schools and communities.
An integrative promotion and prevention science can transform schools and communities.
