Mindsets on Promoting Care and Preventing Harm [For Caregivers]
Purpose of this Study
This research study is collecting responses about goals and strategies about ways people consider more care and less harm in their surroundings. This study will be completed in a single set of online questions.
Study Procedure
If your child participates, they will be presented with a set of questions on the following pages. This study should take no more than 20 minutes to complete online. However, there is no time limit on the questions.
Potential Risks
This study involves minimal risk. No questions are meant to be intrusive or make your child uncomfortable. No questions about legal behaviors will be asked. If your child ever feels uncomfortable responding to a particular item, but would still like to complete the broader survey, they can skip specific items. Your child retains the right to stop participating completely at any time. If you would like to be present as your child completes items on the computer, that is also something that would be within your rights.
Benefits
We hope this study will advance scientific understanding about attitudes and goals about peace and violence in one’s environment. These benefits primarily impact knowledge about these topics and may not noticeably impact you. However, your child can receive their scores from the following survey items at the end. This score is meant to reflect your preferred mindsets or views for creating change.
Extent of Anonymity
We are not collecting any identifying items (ex. names, addresses, email addresses) and your child’s responses will be treated as completely anonymous.
Possible Sharing of Information with Other Researchers
We will keep the information we collect from your child for this study to use in future research and possibly to share with other investigators to use in future studies without asking for your family’s consent or assent. No identifying information about your child would be shared at any time.
Compensation
There is no financial compensation for your child participating in this study.
Freedom to Withdraw
Your child may withdraw from participating before or any time during this study. If your child does not feel comfortable answering some of the survey items, they are welcome to skip those items.
