High-school Programs

High school students are not too young to create real change. PCPH programs are available
to be implemented both in a high school (during or after school) and outside of school (from a community-based organization or online).

High schools partner with us will expand opportunities for youth leadership development to create change in their school. We offer opportunities for students to learn how to promote care and prevent harm.

Promotive & Preventive Mindsets

What are the most important social change goals and best strategies for social change? It depends on your mindset. Take our quick assessment (~15 min) and learn whether you have a promotive or preventive mindset.

  • Promotion & Prevention Leadership

Students follow a simple, 5-step process (based on a research-based framework) to create change for countless problems and aspirations. Promotion & Prevention Leadership is the best training if you desire to learn the “how to create change” rather than learn about “what change is”. We provide youth with a roadmap for setting promotion and prevention goals with accompanying strategies for holistic change. Ultimately, we develop student leaders who determine their own path for youth-led change.

  • Youth-led Promotion & Prevention Strategies

Most change strategies focus on either preventing and reducing harm (e.g., mental illness) or promoting care (e.g., connection). Our Youth-Led Promotion & Prevention Strategies program guides student leaders through specific discussions and leadership activities, resulting in youth-led strategies to immediately benefit the climate and culture of their school. Are you motivated to reduce bullying, address mental health concerns, or reduce substance use? Or, are you motivated by increasing helping behaviors, strengthening connections, or enhancing the school climate? Regardless of your goals, Youth-led Promotion & Prevention Strategies provides students with an engaging and challenging process to position them as change agents.

  • Youth-led Change Institute

Often, schools cannot provide the space, time, and support from adult allies for high school students to work in a team, think critically to address problems, and develop strategies for school change. Our Youth-Led Change Institute provides you with the opportunity to do it all. By providing students across the country with an experience to develop strategies for their school or community. Our virtual cohorts meet once a week throughout a 7-week experience to transform you from a lone wolf to a change agent with like-minded peers!

  • Upstanding for Promotion-Prevention

For decades, bystander intervention has been focused on people who have the opportunity to prevent harm, such as harassment, bullying or even violence. At PCPH, we believe bystanders also observe care, kindness, and goodness in their communities too. We have developed a dual upstander model to train participants to prevent harm or promote care. The result is a holistic upstander intervention approach to decrease harm and increase care in schools and communities.
